We are pleased to present the short film: Tootie Pie
Director Virginia Bogert, producer Susan LaSalle, and writer C. Rosalind Bell, formed a new company, Tootie Pie Productions, LLC. to bring the story Tootie Pie, to the screen. Our proposal contains the production plan for Tootie Pie, the direction the associates are taking with this film, and most importantly, how you can help this significant film reach an American and international audience.
Tootie Pie is a story that explores the friendship of two girls in the segregated South of the 1960's. C. Rosalind Bell's narrative captures a pivotal day in the friendship of two African American girls, aged eleven and twelve, and their struggles with love, betrayal, class distinction, and their departure from childhood.
In the tradition of Rob Reiner's Stand by Me, director Virginia Bogert envisioned the film Tootie Pie as a gripping dramatization of friendship created in childhood and the mysterious bonds between mother and daughter.
We at Tootie Pie Productions hope you believe as we do that there are stories that find their way into our hearts and become part of the history of our collective lives; stories that are as true for those who lived them and retold them, as they are for we who watch and listen now. It doesn't matter if you grew up in small town Louisiana or outside New York. It doesn't matter if it happened four decades ago or last year. Humanity holds its place in time, forever.
Tootie Pie, was filmed entirely in the Pacific NW: Tacoma, Puyallup, the City of Ruston, and Auburn, Washington. Principal photography: May 20-26, 2004.
The majority of the funding for Tootie Pie has been acquired; however, we are still raising finishing funds.
